A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis; we're looking for a Primary Class 1 Driver (AM rota) at our site in Avonmouth to be responsible for the delivery of products to Hovis sites and to other third-party customers as required.  To work in a professional manner at all times and be polite, courteous and well presented when dealing with customers.  To work within a team in a way that supports the Company’s ethos on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement and high standards of work. In this role you will also:

 

  • Report to the FLM on commencement of and completion of each shift
  • Deliver and uplift bakery and any other products to/from customers/bakeries as required
  • Maintain and develop effective working relationships with staff at the receiving locations
  • Operate and adhere to the delivery schedule as per sequence and timing
  • Report all customer complaints or observations upon the nature and timing of the delivery, including and H&S issues at other bakeries/customer premises
  • Report and variances between products issued and products delivered
  • Operate routes allocated and rotate between routes as required
  • Ensure the authorised collection and return to the Bakery of any substandard or damaged products from the Customers premises as well as authorised returns from those customers specified by the company
  • Ensure the daily collection and recording (LPS) of any company-owned baskets and handling equipment (e.g. wheels) from all locations, and report any identified discrepancies
  • Return the vehicle with products and equipment at the designated unloading point allocated by the Dept Manager/Shunter on the completion of each scheduled route or working day

 

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

 

Essential

 

  • Cat C+E license
  • Basic Manual Handling
  • Basic Literacy Skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good understanding of H&S
  • Driver CPC qualified

 

Desirable

 

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate a willingness to accept changes in operational requirements at short notice
  • Previous experience of operating in an FMCG environment
