PURPOSE

To manage, develop and lead their team to effectively deliver an operationally excellent factory in line with Hovis supply chain business requirements.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Line manage a team of production operatives (organise, motivate, communicate, set objectives, review performance, etc).
  • Demonstrate visible leadership for the team, be a role model for Hovis culture.
  • Develop the team using a coaching approach to ensure a culture of continuous improvement becomes commonplace.
  • Encourage teamwork and a supporting environment in order to improve business performance.
  • Manage team rota’s & holiday cover to ensure budgets are met.
  • Maintain team headcount standards, input to succession plans, and participate in recruitment if vacancies arise.
  • Ensure total compliance with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment).
  • Ensure the team delivers product quality in line with the product improvement strategy.
  • Ensure the team delivers their output targets versus base level information in OEE.
  • Measure and deliver the KPIs to achieve the business plan (financial, quality, customer service).
  • Ensure continuous improvement is in place to make year on year improvements via plans and targets.
  • Lead and implement improvement projects.
  • Ensure accurate performance reporting for all measures required (site targets, KPI’s, team performance, etc).
  • Work with other FLMs on site to ensure shared responsibility for delivering all KPIs and targets.
  • Ensure regular briefings and communications to the team are effective & timely
  • Ensure awareness of impact on others and strength of team.
  • Cover for Manufacturing Manager and other FLMs as required.
  • All other duties as required to ensure achievement of manufacturing KPIs.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Experience managing others
  • Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills 
  • Experience with using computer based manufacturing systems and MS Office

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of basic baking techniques
  • Experience of Lean tools and techniques.
  • Food Hygiene Qualifications
  • NEBOSH or IOSH training
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Train the trainer 
  • Experience working within a Trade Union environment

 

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of manufacturing  processes
  • Experience of manufacturing systems, processes, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing environment including HACCAP, Food Safety and Health & Safety legislative requirements 
  • IOSH
