SUMMARY
To support the Site Manufacturing FLM in the management and development of their team.  The LL will lead their team to effectively deliver an operationally excellent factory in line with Hovis supply chain business requirements.
 
KEY PURPOSE AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
•    To support managing, developing and leading the team
•    To support the achievement of an efficient operation in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators
•    Comply with company and legal standards (Food safety, health & safety, hygiene and environment)
•    Lead and develop continuous improvement activity within the team.
•    Ensuring team delivers best quality every day,
•    Ensure adherence to compliance in all standard procedures and systems
 
People
•    Assist in line managing a team of shift based operatives (organise, motivate, communicate, set objectives, review performance etc)
•    Demonstrate visible leadership behaviours
•    Ensure a culture of excellence and continuous improvement becomes commonplace in the team
•    Encourage teamwork in order to improve business performance
•    Maintain team headcount standards, input to succession plans, team member performance, and participate in recruitment if vacancies arise
•    Build and coach a team to develop a multi skilled workforce to promote job rotation across the department
 
Functional/Operational Excellence
•    Always comply with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, team safety, transport safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment)
•    Ensure the team delivers product quality in line with business systems and product improvement strategy
•    Measure and deliver the KPI’s to achieve the business plan (Project Gold, SIC)
•    Ensure continuous improvement to year on year improvements versus objective plans and targets
•    Ensure accurate performance reporting for all measures required (site targets, KPI’s, team performance etc)
•    Effective plant scheduling, balancing, and reporting to meet business demand fully utilising all applicable business systems and processes  
•    Delivering full compliance to all business and customer technical standards
 
Team
•    Ability to cover for Site Manufacturing FLM in their absence
•    To contribute to the development and implementation of site plans
•    Work with other LL’s on site to ensure shared responsibility for delivering all KPI’s and targets
•    Be instrumental in driving the Hovis gold culture in manufacturing
•    Comfortable conducting regular briefings and communication sessions with the team
•    Drive excellent GMP standards within team and embracing CAYG mentality.
 
KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS
Essential
•    Entry level business requirements
•    Relevant industry experience
•    Leadership and people management skills
•    IT literate
•    Good numeracy and literacy
•    Experience of working in a Trade Union environment
•    Excellent communication skills  
 
Desirable
•    Ability to work on own initiative
•    Be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate a willingness to accept changes in operational requirements at short notice
•    Knowledge of baking industry techniques and associated plant/machinery
 
Location: Based in Bradford
Type of role: Full Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off  2 days/2 nights 
Reporting to: Production Front Line Managers
