A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Leader (Despatch) to join the team, to enable Hovis to deliver on its vision of being the best quality brand in bakery.

 

Working with the Despatch and wider Supply Chain team, some of the key accountabilities include;

  • To run the despatch operation at Erith during the night shift. The Team Leader is to allocate tasks to the operatives, oversee and assess the result; they are to manage the loading and despatch of products to all sites to ensure that all products arrive within the terms of the SLA and to communicate any failure to comply at the earliest opportunity.
  • They are to oversee the drivers on site and ensure that all operatives and drivers follow all relevant health and safety, driving regulations and site rules at all times.
  • They are to report directly to supply chain manager.
  • To manage and lead a team of 6 operatives and up to 40 visiting drivers daily. You will be responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis, be proactive to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
  • Ultimately you should lead your team by setting a good example and engage with the team to achieve goals.

 

Health and Safety

  • To ensure that all relevant health and safety regulations are followed by all persons in the department.
  • To complete a daily walk round safety check at the start of every shift and ensure that any issues are communicated the H&S manager and supply chain manager.
  • To ensure that all operatives working are trained to us the equipment.
  • To attend TOPS tours when requested by the FLM and identify all risks and near misses as they are made aware.
  • To assist the FLM in any investigations into accidents and incidents that occurs whilst they are on shift.
  • To complete random checks on MHE pre shift check sheets
  • To complete safety observations regularly and report results.

 

Traceability

  • Carry out random checks on christening accuracy and provide training for relevant operative.
  • Inspect labels and barcodes on M&S orders to ensure that the product will meet the customer’s specifications.

 

Communication

  • Ensure that all stakeholders are kept in constant communication by face to face meetings, conference calls and phone calls and by email all in a clear and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and external sites.
  • Communicate and provide information by relevant methods internally and externally to assist and enable organisational operations and effective service to connecting groups.
  • Liaise with all Production, Logistic sites and central planning to ensure that all loads including ad-hocs are moved with the minimum of cost. Whilst ensuring that product is shipped within SLA’s, we have to ensure that every customer is supplied on time with great quality product.

 

IT

  • Manage, organise and update relevant data using database applications. Including frequent updates to the tam, rag update, basket files, trailer census and track and trace demand tables.
  • Competent with track & trace, put to light, dock manger and excel.

 

Training

  • To attend and contribute to any and all training as supplied by the company.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to improve their skills through personal development, training and coaching.
  • To build a strong and competent team, show leadership and demonstrate guidance.
