A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis for a Multiskilled Engineering Team Leader to join our team at our Forest Gate site and to be the driving force behind the best quality brand in bakery. You will have an opportunity to be responsible for leading a team of engineers in generating improvements across our bakery sites and working collaboratively with the rest of the Engineering team and wider site.

 

Purpose of role

  • To provide leadership to a team of shift engineers, managing the focus of the allocated engineering team on the agreed priorities.
  • To ensure the best possible resolve is achieved to those issues experienced, in order to meet the reliability requirements of the Bakery production schedules.
  • To be part of a team providing essential maintenance operations, whilst maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards, in order to provide maximum manufacturing efficiency at the Forest Gate site.
  • Liaise with duty Manufacturing FLM throughout the duty shift to agree the priorities & support RCA’s
  • First line of contact for manufacturing and despatch, reallocating engineering resource to suit changing priorities
  • Supervise visiting contractors where engineering Coordinators are off site, adhering to the approved contractor process to include possible intermediate inductions
  • Communicate shared work load progress or resource requests with engineering day team
  • Conduct effective, recorded shift handover at start and end of duty shift
  • Lead and support engineering shift team to encourage best practice applied throughout scope of engineering activities
  • Work with Engineering Coordinators to satisfy Planned Preventive Maintenance schedules
  • Identify Critical spares to best enable rapid breakdown response

 

 

 

Ideal experiences / Qualifications / capabilities:

 

  • 5+ years Proven Multi-skilled engineering experience within the Food Manufacturing Industry - Essential
  • 3 years engineering leadership experience - Essential
  • Experience on PLC process equipment & plant
  • GCSE Grade C or above in English & Maths or equivalent.          
  • Have a recognised Engineering qualification
  • 17th Edition IEE wiring regulation pass
  • Experience of continuous improvement
  • Experience with Permit to Work systems
  • Experience with COSHH regulations
  • Able to self-manage and prioritise own workload to satisfy commitments and meet agreed deadlines.

 

Candidates must have the right to work within the UK without the need for visa sponsorship.

The role is a shift based role - working a rotating 4 on 4 off shift of days and nights.

The salary for the role is from £52,500 to £55,100 depending on experience.
