The Role:

 

To support the Engineering Department in delivering an effective maintenance service to continuously improve plant reliability. Supporting in the planning of all required PPMs within the relevant time frames to comply with legislative requirements.

 

  • General support to assist with delivery of quality products by ensuring PPMs are carried out in line with the schedule. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement tasks (FMECA)
  • Responsible for ensuring contractors permits to work are fully completed (including scheduling, booking in and site inductions)
  • To carry out checks of the Engineering workshop to ensure it is kept tidy.    
  • To participate in Top Tours and encourage a safety culture within the department. 
  • Support site with statutory inspections and audits
  • Coordinating with the Hygiene team to facilitate and plan shutdown days. 
  • Planning/improvement of daily/weekly OEE issues and actions across all shifts.
  • Manage routine service contractors and suppliers performance. 
  • Assist with work allocation and prioritisation of work within the Engineering department. 
  • Managing the Engineering KPI trackers.  
  • Ensure that the maintenance system is kept up to date and accurate
  • Ad hoc project support. 
  • Supporting/sharing best practice and new techniques in 5s workplace organisation. 
  • Administration support to the Engineering department. 
  • Communicate any concerns regarding the works/ engineer's reports to the manager.
  • Supporting the engineering team by ensuring all jobs are allocated and part requests are processed efficiently and timely.
  • Supporting the Maintenance Planner by monitoring and organising of stock by recording all stock issued, allocated and replenished.
  • Assist the Maintenance Planner with the  time and attendance system.
  • Minimise waste by ensuring PPMs are allocated to the right Engineer based on priority and skill set. 

 

Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:

 

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • GCSE GRADE C (or equivalent)  in English and Maths.
  • Previous experience in a planning or administration role within a manufacturing or maintenance led department is key
  • Carrying out risk assessments. 
  • Self sufficient and able to work as part of a team or independently. 
  • Driven and has a ‘can do attitude’
