We’re now searching for a bakery technologist ready to play a key role in the next chapter of our journey.  This role will provide technical support in order to assist the delivery of continuous product improvement and new product development for Hovis.

The role involves:

  • Collects data, makes measurements and takes action following set guidelines.
  • Is aware of the underlying principles of Quality & Food Safety and can relate own tasks to the delivery of Quality Management goals.
  • Carries out activities in accordance with internally approved protocols.
  • Understands bakery process, able to take a brief, create recipe, bake, test and report under controlled and reproducible conditions.
  • Samples and tests raw materials to determine appropriate functionality: baking and final product assessment.
  • Performs tasks required to test and trial ideas with the support of the Development Managers and Continual Improvement Team.
  • Can demonstrate evidence of ownership & delivery of recipe concept to launch.
  • Able to analyse data to interpret and report back findings, recommendations for change.
  • Conforms to Health and Safety policies and procedures and raises issues in their area of responsibility; and applies these policies to maintain the Hovis Standard within the Test Bakery Facility

  • Interest in Food Science
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • ‘A’ Levels or equivalent in Technical subjects
  • Attention to Detail

Desirable:

  • Bakery skills
  • Food Industry knowledge
  • Driving Licence
