The role:

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Health Advisor to join the Hovis In-House OH team and enable us to deliver on its vision of being the best quality brand in bakery. The role is a full time 5 day week role covering mainly our Nottingham Bakery (NG16 1HB) with additional support to our Golborne Distribution site (WA3 2SH) and Wellingborough Mill (NN8 4BL) when required. 

 

Working with the wider occupational health, HR and HSE teams, some of the key accountabilities include;

 

  • Conduct risk related health surveillance and health screening medicals in accordance with both legislation and Hovis OH and Wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct Case Management referrals by providing timely and clinically appropriate assessment of individual’s health with feedback and recommendations to Management, as appropriate, maximising attendance levels for colleagues where possible.
  • Advise Managers on providing a safe workplace with minimum risk to health as far as reasonably practicable.
  • Support the EHS Manager where relevant in the investigation of accidents to confirm severity of injury, agree preventative measures to avoid future accidents and document for future potential civil claims.
  • Advise Managers on the prevention and precautions against, and/or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, noise, stress, environmental issues and manual handling risks to minimise negative health effects
  • Provide supervision, support and development of an Occupational Health Technician (if applicable).
  • In conjunction with the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Specialist, work with the site team to deploy health promotion schemes to maximise employee wellbeing and minimise absence rates.
  • Actively encourage and support colleagues to participate in Health and Wellbeing initiatives to prevent the onset of long term conditions which could impact colleague absence and performance.

 

The ideal candidate will be one that is passionate not only about the work they do but the brand they work for, takes ownership of what they do, and is able to proactively support the business in all aspects of Occupational Health.

 

They will also be able to build strong relationships with managers and staff alike, by bringing a positive, encouraging and consistent behaviour and are able to create a compelling story for promoting Health and Wellbeing for all of our employees.

 

Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:

  • Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and successfully revalidated every three years
  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health plus experience of working in Occupational Health preferably in a Manufacturing environment
  • Health surveillance/screening
  • Clinical competence
  • Health assessment (pre-employment and post-sickness)
  • Identification of the OH needs of the site
  • Data collection and trend identification
  • Time management
  • Co-operation and team-working
  • Report-writing
  • IT literate – be proficient in the use of MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

 

Desirable:

  • Counselling and listening skills
  • Presentation skills
