Hygiene Manager at Hovis Nottingham 

 

Are you looking for a fantastic opportunity to manage a hygiene team and deliver the highest standard of hygiene services to a busy manufacturing environment?

 

The Role

 

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will lead a team of 48 Hygiene Operatives across four shifts over a four on/four off shift pattern along with designated Co-ordinators for each team.

You will also be responsible for the leadership, training and mentoring of production colleagues carrying out hygiene deep cleans on plant shutdown days.

 

You will be the main point of contact for all hygiene related matters across the site, including the management of external contractors where required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading the hygiene function to ensure site hygiene levels are maintained to a high standard in compliance with Hovis, BRC and retail customer standards, following the correct procedures in relation to cleaning and hygiene processes.
  • You will be highly visible in manufacturing.
  • You will supervising, monitor and improve standards of working, including the ongoing development and overseeing of the hygiene schedule. 
  • Your day to day interactions with all team members will allow you to  successfully implement procedures, provide training, leadership, coaching and mentoring where required.
  • Supporting all teams throughout all hygiene operations from cleaning to microbiological sampling and testing. 
  • Responding to any audit non conformances in a proactive and timely manner. 
  • Take an active role during customer visits and audits to confidently and proudly articulate the hygiene function.
  • Strengthen and add value to the team through the Performance Evaluation Review process, setting key smart targets with appropriate measures in place.
  • Drive at pace for continuous improvement measures in all aspects of the hygiene function.
  • With a keen eye for detail you will challenge the current hygiene standards and documentation taking proactive improvement measures where gaps are identified.
  • Health & Safety and Food Safety will be key priorities and you will flag any concerns with confidence. Solutions to potential non conformances in these areas will be proposed and implemented at pace.

 

The Person

 

We are looking for a hands on dynamic professional individual with experience of working within food manufacturing and a proven track record of maintaining the highest of hygiene standards.

 

Great people management and communication skills are essential along with the ability to motivate and lead your team to achieve fantastic results.

 

You’ll have good planning and organisational skills coupled with a sound knowledge or qualification in HACCP, COSHH, cleaning chemicals and current food safety regulations.

 

Flexibility of working will be required including the requirement to work alternative Saturdays with a day off in the week on a non shutdown cleaning day.
