Maintenance Planner: - Mitcham

A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis for a Maintenance Planner to join our team at our site in Mitcham and to be the driving force behind the best quality brand in bakery. 

 

Role Purpose: 

To be part of a team providing essential maintenance operations, whilst maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards in order to provide maximum manufacturing efficiency at the Mitcham site. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

To support site with statutory inspections and other retailer audits.
To provide general support to assist with delivery of quality products.

Planning/ improvement of daily / weekly OEE issues and actions across all shifts.

Manage engineering stores standards.

Daily maintenance management.

Root cause analysis/ action planning and analysing of reliability data.

Implementing/ sharing of best practice and new techniques.

Development of maintenance processes.

Continuous improvement within the site team to maintain standards and improving performance.

Work permits & Safe systems of work.

Assistance with work allocation/ prioritisation.

Plant optimisation based tasks.

Manage routine service contractors and suppliers performance.

Ad hoc project support.

Participate in Continuous Improvement tasks.

 

Efficient use of spares and stock items.

Minimal production loss and waste generation through the actions of self and direct reports.

Participate in safety tours.

 

Essential role related knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience at selection

Must be flexible with hours when required to meet the needs of the business.

Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment. 

GSCE Grade C or above in English & Maths or equivalent.

Flexible and able to manage a number of concurrent priorities.

Proven Engineering experience & aptitude.

Self-motivated.

Effective verbal & written communication skills.

Previous Risk Assessments involvement.

Site Permits to Work process.

Basic Knowledge of RCA process.

Pest Control Awareness.

Multi-skilled engineering background.

Basic Food Hygiene.

Knowledge of process equipment.

Able to self manage and prioritise own workload to satisfy commitments and meet agreed deadlines.

 

Desirable role related knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience:

Previous engineering experience within a large bakery business. 

Knowledge of PLC control applications.

BTEC diploma in a relevant subject.

Strong engineering competence on automated production plant and auxiliary equipment.

Above basic level of computer literacy.

Audit experience.

Experienced in the use of RCA tools.

Experienced in written ALARP Risk Assessments.

Issue full range of Site Permit to Works.

Trained & experienced in ALARP Risk Assessment generation.

Intermediate Food Hygiene.

Experienced in Lean Manufacturing.

Experience with CoSHH.

Experience managing continuous improvement exercises.
